The Jewish Wife and The Informer, by Bertolt Brecht, present the vivid and changing scene of Hitler’s war machine as it begins to affect the personal and private lives of ordinary German citizens. Translated by Eric Bentley, these two One-Act plays from Brecht’s Fear and Misery in the Third Reich, depict the beginnings of the Nazi reign of terror.

Brian Friel’s play, Philadelphia, Here I Come!, which premiered on Broadway in 1965, confirms Friel's reputation as Ireland's greatest living playwright. It tells the story of Gar O’Donnell, a young man who, on the night before he is due to leave his home in Ireland for America, debates with his alter-ego whether or not he should remain with his friends and family in an unfulfilling environment or sail to an unknown future in the New World .
