- City Paper

Marc Horwitz stars in our award-winning and critically acclaimed performance of The Puppetmaster of Lodz by Gilles Segal, in a revival production opening at Theatre Project in Baltimore. The play was applauded as a highlight of local theatre in the Baltimore Sun's Critics’ Assessment of the Year's Noteworthy Events in the Arts (1995) and City Paper’s Top Ten -The Year on Stage (2002). Mr. Horwitz was awarded Best Actor in the City Paper's Best of Baltimore editions (1995 and 2002) for his performance in the title role.

The Puppetmaster of Lodz, written by French playwright, Gilles Segal, himself a survivor of the Holocaust, tells the story of Samuel Finkelbaum, a survivor of the Birkenau concentration camp, who five years after the war has ended refuses to believe that the war is over. In his tiny garret apartment, in post war Germany, he continues to hide and to recreate the people and events of his lost world with puppets.
